Darin...Why...?
No other place has been honored in Arabic poetry like Darin. In many poems it is referred to as an orchare of various display of beauties.
The gulf beach, where it is located, has tremendously contributed to its natural capital charm. Its aura derived from the sea and the friendliness its people is a true representation of a history that has never been vitiated by hostilities. Banners of different Civilizations tugged high in its sky, thousand years before Christ.
From its history, sea legend had originated, from its rich soil blessings reached all those within proximity, from its shores divers and fisherman put the open sea in a never ceasing search for pearls and fish.
For a long periode of time Darin had been the only town along the Golf coast to which oversea ships were bound to, Laden with various comodities and products. Rajab, was the month during which trade was at its peak. Before Ramadhan month set in, merchants used to leave the town for where they has come from and consequently the cliques of poets disbanded.
What is amazing, is that the name Darin was closely linked tho the word perfume. A retailer invoplved with the perfume trade was widely then reffered to as Darin. This could be atributed to the fact Darin was then the biggest market of perfumes that came from India. The historian Yaqud in his lexicon made explicit reference to that. Ships setting sail from African shores and other coming from Baghdad were always hading to Darin.
Now Darin is the point of convergence for ancienthistory and modern civizations and will ever continue as a crucible wher past cultures monuments seen in different parts in Darin conspicuously reflect the old civilization that were added to the characterizing features of the town it a unique town all over the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
